What we keep about you, and how to make us forget it.
Inside the Suits is a small publication run from Málaga, Spain. We keep as little about you as we can and we never sell it, rent it or use it for advertising. If anything here is unclear, write to insidethesuits@gmail.com and a person will answer.
If you just read the site
We count visits, not people. Each browser is counted once a day, each receipt once per visit, and we note the site that sent you there (a search engine, a link on another site, or a tag on one of our links). None of that is tied to a name or an email. Robots are left out.
If you join the list
We keep your email address, when you joined, where on the site you joined, the site that first brought you here and your browser type. We use it to send the Thursday email and nothing else. If you tap "Save my seat" for the founding rate, we keep that answer and when you gave it.
Whether you come back
Links in our email carry a short code instead of your address. When you open the site from the email, or from a browser you joined on, we note which pages you opened and when. That tells us whether the email is worth reading and whether the founding club is worth building. We look at it ourselves and it goes nowhere else.
If you make an account
We keep your email and your password in scrambled form, which nobody can read back, not even us. Your bookmarks and reading history stay in your own browser. If you send feedback while logged in, we keep it with your email so we can follow up; sent logged out, it is anonymous.
What sits in your browser
We use no advertising cookies. The site keeps a few small notes in your browser's storage: that you are logged in, that you joined, the short code from our email, the site that first sent you, your bookmarks and reading history, your theme and timeline zoom, and whether you have seen the welcome screens. Clearing your browser's data for this site removes all of them.
Who helps us run it
Vercel hosts the site, stores the list and counts page views. Resend sends the Thursday email. Supabase holds daily counts of where visits came from, with no personal details. Pictures on receipts load from Wikimedia Commons and source logos from Google, so those services see that your browser asked for them. Some of these companies are in the United States and work under the EU's standard contract terms for data sent abroad.
Why we are allowed to
You asked for the email, so we send it. Counting visits and seeing whether readers come back is our legitimate interest in running the publication, kept small and never shared. If you would rather we did not note your visits, tell us and we will stop.
How long we keep it
For as long as you are on the list. Unsubscribe from any email and we delete your signup, your founding answer and the record of your visits. Delete your account from the account page and the same happens to it. Anonymous visit counts are kept for the site's history.
Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, take a copy with you, or object to how we use it. Write to insidethesuits@gmail.com and we will do it within a month, usually much sooner. If you think we have got it wrong, you can complain to Spain's data protection authority, the AEPD.
